For this week’s oddball challenge, I couldn’t decide between two photos. By a strange coincidence, they both involved chickens of some sort.

On the way to breakfast one snowy day downtown we came across this pair. The dog was waiting outside for its owner, but they appear to have made a friend to keep them company. I didn’t have the heart to tell them that it wasn’t real.

On our last morning in Mumbai we were having breakfast at Cafe Excelsior when I heard the sound of a rooster crowing. I went outside the restaurant to find this guy walking around like he owned all of A K Nayak Marg. This is not something I expected in one of the busier parts of one of the top ten largest cities in the world. (But then this isn’t the most unexpected thing for me. There are also leopards and crocodiles to be found there.)  And I thought it was unusual to live in a city where you can find coyotes, beaver, and deer!
