Sage has shared a number of storytelling tips over the past several months. This one, most of all, though, is really applicable to blogging. To me, the blogs that really apply the idea shared in this tip, are the ones that I most love reading. Continue reading A Blogging Tip from Sage: Using Detail
Last night, while I was cozy and warm in our apartment, Sage went out in to the snow to perform at a storytelling event on the other side of town. The trip took about 2 hours each way – a … Continue reading A Short Story From Sage
Another weekend is here and I’m happy to find that our plans are already taking us to a library I haven’t yet visited as a part of this project. The Palmerston branch has something most libraries in Toronto lack: a theatre space located in the basement. Sage will be performing there later today. The library is in a part of the city called the Annex where we lived from 2013-2015. It is an interesting mix of quiet residential streets and a vibrant street life on Bloor street. Just recently, my friend found herself in a maximum security prison in the US. In a story she told at Sage’s High Stakes Storytelling show she shares the story of her time there and the connections she made with some of the inmates. Continue reading Story: That Time My Friend Went to Prison
Sage and Daegan went out a few times over the past couple of weeks and filmed Sage telling a story in places that relate to what she’s talking about in the story. It’s a fun way to experience a story and I’m excited to share it with you. This story is a true story from Sage’s high school years. I really enjoyed it and hope you do as well. Continue reading A Story from Sage: You Look Lonely
My partner, Sage, is a storyteller and she teaches storytelling workshops as well. Recently she made a video to explain something I need to work hard on: Editing. Whether telling a story on stage, sharing a story with our friends, or writing a post here, it’s good to know what details you should and should not include. If you’re in Toronto, Sage offers workshops several times a year and performs regularly. We’re planning a trip back to India in January and she is hoping to offer a few workshops there and, if the opportunity arises, to perform there as well. … Continue reading Kittens Explain Story Editing
As many of you know, my partner, Sage, is a storyteller and teacher of storytelling here in Toronto. But she also has a podcast in which she shares other people’s stories as told by them. Some are by people she has met in Toronto either through storytelling performances or through her workshops and classes she’s offered over the years. Others, though are complete strangers who had a story they wanted to share. In just over three weeks, my son, Daegan, and I will be headed to Delhi to spend a week there, and another week in Jaipur. Do you live … Continue reading Hey Delhi and Jaipur! Tell Me Your Stories!
