What Inspires Me?

In this entry (twice in one day!) Todd shares a video and book recommendation about one of his cycling inspirations, Jenny Graham.

Well, when it comes to cycling, it’s videos like this. Jenny Graham cycled solo around the world and holds the record for fastest woman to circumnavigate the world unsupported. I read her book, Coffee First, Then the World and loved it and back in the day GCN had a video channel so I watched the video she made there as well. It’s an amazing watch and I don’t even think you have to be a cyclist to enjoy it. It’s interesting and inspiring. She’s an amazing human to be able to take it on and push through the things she did (as you’ll see when you watch the film and get even more of a feel for if you read her book).

Now, after GCN got rid of their video subscription service, you can watch her movie, “Eastbound” online for free here:

And if you want to know more about the woman who rode around the world the fastest ever, you can learn more about Lael Wilcox here.

    • Happy to share! She’s really fun to read/watch. Good sense of humour and really humble but underneath it all is incredibly strong and resilient. She pushes herself far more than I could ever dream of doing – as you’ll see if you watch it. I probably would’ve turned back at Russia and also would for sure have finished 2-3 weeks later to allow for much more sleep.

    • I sure did! Tentatively picking it up on Tuesday if all goes well. That’ll give me a little time to try it out a bit before 200k on Saturday.
